The Washington State University soccer team continued their winning streak as they won their third consecutive match by skunking Stephen F. Austin, 5-0 in Nacogdoches. With the victory, the Cougars improve to 6-2 overall on the year.
True freshman Brandi Vega scored her fourth goal of the season to open the scoring for Wazzu against the Ladyjacks just over 15 minutes into the match. Twelve minutes later, Vega assisted as junior Emma Stolz scored her third goal of the season to allow the Cougars to take a 2-0 lead. A mere 11 minutes later, sophomore Megan Chapin recorded her first goal of the year and Wazzu took a commanding 3-0 lead into the halftime break.
Senior Kiersten Dallstream also got into the goal-scoring action in the second half as she tallied her eighth and ninth goals for the season to complete the blowout victory over SFA.
Dallstream's goals give her 26 career goals and secured her third place slot on the all-time list [second place is held by Deka DeWitt at 40 goals] while junior goalkeeper Meghan Berlingo recorded her fourth shutout of the season.
Wazzu again outshot their opponent, this time by a 22-9 margin.
